It is believed that it was organized with the founding of the church.  The ministry has grown and reduced in membership but the goal of the ministry has remained the same.  Our goal is to work with our leader in looking out for the welfare of the church.  As men of God, we strive to seek that which is of the Lord.  We strive to maintain good relations with our shepherd and the church body.  We realize that it is our responsibility to make sure all facets of the church operate as smoothly as possible and to refrain from anything that is not becoming as Christian men. The role of a deacon can be classified as a ‘clergyman” in ranking.  Some of their functions are very similar to that of a pastor and they are to assist the pastor in every way.  There may be times when the pastor will be unable to do certain things; then it becomes the responsibility of the deacon(s) to step in and carry on.  There have been times when  our church was without a pastor.  When this time came at SSBC, our deacon ministry took charge and carried on the business of the church until a new pastor was called. Now, to our new Pastor, Rev. Darian Blue, we are confident that you, along with our deacon staff can and will bring that missing generation back to our church.  We have already seen it happen in the short period of time you have been our leader.  We have experienced growth in attendance on both Sunday services.  We believe our new pastor possess those special skills needed that can link the generation gaps and deliver inspiring messages to all.  Remember, “A Man’s Heart Plans His Way, But the Lord Directs His Steps”.
